What's Rising: Week of February 1
Introducing What's Rising, our new, agency-wide initiative reporting on trends as they’re happening, before they become mainstream. Each week, we'll bring you a weekly drop of cultural moments, creative work and breakthrough trends from across the internet landscape.
- Passion Investments...The nostalgia boom of 2020 is not letting up, especially with Millennials who have been avidly trading, buying and selling collectibles from their youth. This includes rare basketball cards, discontinued toys and other types of valuable memorabilia.
- BRB, Gone Crypto... From Yachty Coin to Doge Coin (Oh yes, it’s a thing), everyone from sports teams to whisky distilleries are monetizing themselves via digital tokens.
- Tiny Office Space... 2020 saw the tiny house market boom as people looked for unconventional getaways during the pandemic. Now, a new start-up called Nooka is launching a new WFH model that it calls “proximity office space” — tiny shed-like offices that neighbors can lease to one another (or work in themselves).
- Show Room....Whether it's Queen’s Gambit or Lord of the Rings, hotels around the country are tapping into consumers’ binge-watching habits and unrelenting screentime to inspire travel again with rooms that mirror the sets of popular shows and movies.
