This position is full-time and requires a hybrid work schedule out of our NYC office location.

Position Overview

The VP, Cybersecurity is a critical leadership role to develop and drive Day One Agency's infrastructure strategy and to lead the cybersecurity offering across all of the agency’s offices. The ideal candidate is a proven and dynamic leader with technology and cybersecurity expertise, who can drive alignment across systems, resources and user experience to support business goals. This is a hands-on role that will deliver both strategic objectives and tactical execution. This role will collaborate with agency leadership, internal partners at all levels, clients, vendor partners and service providers, among other key stakeholders. The successful candidate will be entrepreneurial, detail oriented, efficient, and possess a strong work ethic.


  • Oversee cybersecurity functions across all Day One offices (NY/LA/CHI/PDX)
  • Build out an efficient, high-touch experience powered by D1A team members and supported by trusted third party partners
  • Define goals, objectives and measures of success for Day One’s cybersecurity functions
  • Foster strong cross-functional relationships, acting as a trusted advisor on all tech and cybersecurity matters
  • Oversee agency-wide cybersecurity compliance and business continuity planning
  • Develop communication strategies to elevate company awareness of policies and procedures
  • Manage, coach and develop technology team members to support the achievement of their goals in alignment with the goals of the agency
  • Serve as primary solution/system architect for Day One’s platforms, products and solutions, performing market and competition assessments to identify, influence and shape solution roadmaps
  • Identify and implement new technologies and next generation solutions that yield a competitive business advantage
  • Work with Executive Leadership to define acceptable levels of business risk, conduct risk assessments, and recommend mitigation strategies
  • Stay abreast of the cyber threat landscape for the industry and monitor security threats and response tactics for security breaches
  • Review investigations after breaches or incidents, including impact analysis and recommendations for avoiding similar vulnerabilities
  • Monitor changes in the technology sector and develop strategies to support Day One’s long and short-term plans for growth, maintenance, repair, and renovations
  • Oversee safety programs to create and maintain a strong safety culture, ensuring compliance with health safety & environment programs and regulations
  • Lead cybersecurity and data privacy & compliance initiatives. Strategically determining how we grow our technological footprint while continuing to safeguard our customer’s data
  • Define and communicate plans, procedures, policies, and standards for the organization for acquiring, implementing, and operating new security systems, equipment, software, and other technologies
  • Represent Day One to prospective clients who audit our company for compliance
  • Project company infrastructure and systems by defining access privileges and control structures
  • Determine security violations and inefficiencies by conducting regular audits
  • Help lead employee training to prevent phishing and other forms of cyber attack


  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems Management, Computer Engineering, Business Administration or related discipline
  • 8 to 12 years of experience within the technology space with a focus on cybersecurity
  • Experience evaluating, implementing, and managing an information technology ecosystem and cybersecurity program
  • Experience leading regulatory compliance activities along with a deep working knowledge of relevant federal, state, and local regulations as well best practices in application and network security
  • Experience growing teams, developing and managing budgets, and leading enterprise-wide infrastructure projects
  • Experience collaborating with technology partners, accounting and finance teams, industry trades, and outside vendors
  • Experience leading change management initiatives in the technology space
  • Experience conducting risk assessments and articulating risk in the context of business objectives
  • Demonstrated experience with emerging cyber threat identification, incident response, and developing innovative mitigation strategies
  • Understanding of mobile technology and OS
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to prioritize, delegate, and present complex topics in a clear and concise manner
  • Entrepreneurial spirit and passion for contributing to the creation of new systems, programs and company culture

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in Marketing/PR/Advertising agency or start-up environment

The Company is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. The base compensation range for this role is $150k-$180K and this position is eligible for benefits that include medical insurance (health, dental, and vision), retirement plan, paid time off, paid parental leave, new business and employee referral bonuses, etc. Please note that the compensation information provided is a good faith estimate for New York City based hires only and is provided pursuant to the New York City Pay Transparency Law. Final compensation for this role will be determined by various factors such as candidates' relevant work experience, skills, qualifications, and location.
