SVP, Communications (Thought Leadership) - New York

New York City

Do you craft stories like it's your job? It could be.

We’re looking to add to our quickly-growing team with an entrepreneurial-minded, high-achieving account leader who will be instrumental in managing and growing our thought leadership and executive communications function at the agency. This role will serve as a Senior Vice President and member of the agency’s Senior Leadership Team, helping to lead priority executive communications and thought leadership accounts as well as helping to drive other priority internal/external agency initiatives.

The ideal candidate will be a communications leader, mentor and project manager with the ability to multitask, self-motivate and work within deadlines. We’re looking for someone who has a strong track record of driving results that help brands and their executives build a corporate narrative and break through to achieve earned media success.

Our company culture is at the core of everything we do. It defines our vibe. It’s what makes every day, Day One. This role will provide a significant entrepreneurial opportunity, working closely with the co-founders (and other senior leaders), in shaping the company’s culture, chemistry and providing input regarding policies and procedures.

We offer a highly collaborative environment where smart and passionate people come together to solve creative communications challenges. It’s no secret; we work hard— but only on the things we love. From the day this agency was created, we vowed to only work on projects that fire us up. And that’s not changing any day soon. We emphasize and value our relationships— after all, we’re powered by them. Our colleagues, clients, and partners are the most important part of our business.

This position is full time and is only available in New York City.

Responsibilities:

  • Be a thought-partner for senior-level clients by understanding their business and driving results while helping to maintain and deepen the agency’s client relationship

  • Develop keen understanding for the unique business objectives of each client, and help develop communications strategies and activations to meet those goals

  • Train, counsel and build strategies for C-Suite executives across our client roster

  • Lead PR narrative development across priority projects, through the lens of executive voices

  • Further the agency team’s perspective on the future of news and earned media

  • Leverage media relationships to break through with news and ongoing brand narratives

  • Develop strategies to raise the visibility of key executives via owned social channels for both executives and the brands they lead

  • Be proactive, anticipate client needs and keep multiple activities moving

  • Provide mentorship and leadership to agency teams

  • Maintain current knowledge of trends, the competitive landscape, and confidently provide strategic point-of-views to the client

  • Participate in new business pitch development and/or presentations

  • Serve on the leadership team, drive office culture and be a mentor to staff

  • Develop and deliver informed strategic recommendations based on understanding of best practices across each client’s category and competitive set

  • Manage clients, teams, account budgets and third-party resources – driving the engine of client service

  • Create strategic plans, decks and presentations on behalf of agency and its clients, including generating ongoing new ideas and value beyond the scope of current client assignments

  • Relentless curiosity is a must -- we’re always looking for what’s new, next and never been done before and are open to experimentation and pushing the boundaries.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree

  • 15+ years of experience

  • Prior PR agency experience; integrated communications strategy; specialization in thought leadership; strong writing and narrative development skills; expertise in executive comms (owned and earned)

  • Experience leading and mentoring a diverse team

  • Strong media relations skills and contacts

  • Collaborate, multi-task and work efficiently with precise attention to detail

  • Deliver an impactful and compelling presentation

  • Possess a passion for storytelling and excitement to collaborate in a fast-paced team environment
