This position is full time and is available in any of our markets (New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, and Portland).
At its core, is the need to top edit and curate. There is no shortage of information, news or ideas, but this role will require a near real time ability to identify what can break through via a deep understanding of different consumer audiences and keeping tabs on consumer-facing publications and newsletters. We want this person to be able to put themselves into the consumers/readers/fans/audiences of multiple brands and think about what will get them to care, and ultimately share.
You will help manage a Creative Strategy team and work closely with our Editorial Director. Your job will be to brainstorm monthly editorial themes, top edit articles, newsletters and ensure our editorial output demonstrates thought leadership for our clients and Day One. You will need to be a self starter, able to take an initial lead or direction and run with it.
This role will report into the Editorial Director and touch work from all Day One offices in NY, LA, Chicago and Portland.
Write and edit stories on where conversation is happening today with a fluency and understanding of social channels, as well as rising formats like audio and short-form film
Create the conditions for content programs to work, ensuring all creative ties back to brands needs and mission
Set vision & have a high standard for storytelling led creative
Be a leader and trusted voice to our Story team
Create guidelines and ‘publishing rules’ for how we interact with unique audiences for brand on social and beyond
Develop editorial board of freelancers and creators to bring to life brand vision
Top edit and review content
Oversee content programs and commissions from long form, to film
Write and support hands on in copy and creative
Expand Day One thought leadership & voice
5-8 years in an editorial/story role with a minimum of 2 years running a team and owning the editorial vision
Expertise in content production process, operations and team management
Strong and deep roster of freelancer content creators and resources
Experience in client management, team management/mentorship
Highly organized and systematic when it comes to project management
Good presentation skills
Energetic leader + collaborative + great work ethic
Thrive in a diverse environment and contribute to the overall culture of Day One
Multi-task and prioritize workload with quick turnarounds
First hand experience taking projects from concept to production
Excellent problem solving skills, able to comfortably contributing to creative and ideas
Ability to create budgets & timelines
