The right candidate is an ambitious, organized self-starter with creative agency experience. At your core, you’re a storyteller. You have a way with words. This position is full time and only available in New York City.
The ideal candidate will help us arrive at stories that stop people in their scrolls. Their work should be deeply grounded in culture and focus on connecting to the things people care about. A Director of Story at Day One should be ready to take on a fresh challenge every day, whether it’s relaunching a signature product, concepting a video game that goes viral, supporting small businesses when they need it most, or launching new digital communities for iconic brands.
Lead ideation and land the big idea
Bring ideas to life through the platforms, channels, and conversations that reflect where culture is happening now
Turn ideas into smart, simple presentations that get clients hyped
Roll up your sleeves with copywriting and content direction from one-off posts to integrated campaigns—no project is too small, no ambition too big
Bring fresh thinking and a collaborative spirit to the team when developing work
Build and nurture a team of creative and strategic minds
Always be searching for consumer insights, new platforms and cultural trends
Multitask and prioritize workload with quick turnarounds
Work closely with clients, applying creative solutions and evolving the work all while remembering the big picture
Learn a brand voice and innovate how the voice can be flexed to better speak for different products and services
7-10 years relevant experience as part of a creative team. Agency experience preferred.
Strong copy / writing background
2+ years in a role overseeing a team and leading campaigns
Strong network of freelance writers, makers, and creative talent
Familiarity working across platforms from digital, print, and experiential
