This role is full-time, requires a hybrid work schedule, and is only available in New York City.


This Associate Director, Communications will focus on creating, driving and advancing key communications projects that cross over into the world of both consumer and tech storytelling across earned channels.

The role is built for the future of earned media and the quickly changing media landscape, with an emphasis on being a driver across key communications clients.

The ideal candidate has experience working to concept and deliver across consumer-driven comms projects with earned coverage and conversation as the output. Experience collaborating with agency and client leadership to shape and execute earned strategies is also a must.


This person will be responsible for developing strong consumer and tech communications strategies that proactively and reactively earn coverage to achieve key business objectives. In addition to team management and mentorship experience, we are also looking for someone who can contribute to new and incremental business proposals.

  • Develop and drive earned, integrated media strategies that demonstrate an understanding of our clients’ business and bottom line
  • Drive results while showcasing client leadership and relationship building
  • Develop and deliver informed strategic recommendations based on understanding of best integrated public relations practices
  • Have a solid understanding of evolving media landscape and a strong rolodex of media relationships
  • Interface directly with key clients and executives at a macro level when building plans and strategies and at a micro level in implementing those approaches
  • Maintain current knowledge of trends, the competitive landscape, and confidently provide strategic point-of-views to the client
  • Proactively anticipate client needs and keep multiple activities moving simultaneously
  • Participate in new business pitch development and/or presentations
  • Drive office culture and be a mentor to more junior staff
  • Create strategic plans, decks and presentations on behalf of agency and its clients, including generating ongoing new ideas and value beyond the scope of current client assignments

  • 5+ years of experience in communications roles, or similar
  • Experience collaborating with a diverse team
  • Excellent judgment and people skills
  • Experience partnering with creative teams to build effective strategies and campaigns
  • Creative storytelling skills coupled with a deep understanding on how to package a modern earned story, understand the importance of visual elements
  • Deep understanding of developing media strategies and strong media relationships, especially among consumer lifestyle and consumer tech publications
  • Excellent communication and writing skills
  • Experience developing and executing programs that have driven tangible results
  • Entrepreneurial spirit with ability to manage multiple priorities and pivot quickly
  • Prior experience in PR, consumer communications strategy brand partnerships and large-scale event activations
  • Experience supporting and delivering success across a wide range of assignments and client categories — including travel, financial services, lifestyle, consumer tech, fashion and beverage.

The Company is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. The base compensation range for this role is $90,000-$125,000 and this position is eligible for benefits that include medical insurance (health, dental, and vision), retirement plan, paid time off, paid parental leave, new business and employee referral bonuses, etc. Please note that the compensation information provided is a good faith estimate for New York City based hires only and is provided pursuant to the New York City Pay Transparency Law. Final compensation for this role will be determined by various factors such as candidates' relevant work experience, skills, qualifications, and location.
